Dmytro V. Scheglov – Leading Researcher, Head of the Department of Vascular pathology of the brain and spinal cord SO “Scientific-Practical Center of endovascular neuroradiology NAMS of Ukraine” ( SO «SPCEN of NAMS Ukraine). He is the head of Non-Governmental Organization “Allukrainian Association of Endovascular Neuroradiology”, Doctor of Med. Scienc.
He graduated in 1991 from Kyiv Medical Institute, specializing in “Medicine” and then passed the specialization course “Neurosurgery” at the Kiev Medical Academy of Post-graduate Education n. a. P.L. Shupik. After its completion in 1991 worked as a doctor – neurosurgeon, since 1997 till now has been working as the Head of Department of Vascular pathology of the brain and spinal cord in SO «Scietific-Practical Center of endovascular neuroradiology NAMS of Ukraine», Kiev.
In 2009 he defended his thesis for the degree of PhD on the subject “Endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms in the early periods of hemorrhage complicated by angiospasm.”
In 2014 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medicine on the subject “Diagnostic and endovascular treatment of intracranial arterial aneurysms”.
D. Scheglov actively participates in the research work of SO «SPCEN of NAMS Ukraine», Kiev. He is the major executor of six and the leader of two global scientific works in Center
D. Scheglov is the author of more than 150 published scientific papers.
Since 2009 he is the certified expert of intervention neuroradiology and the Procter of «Boston Scientific USA (Stryker)».
D. Scheglov scientific and practical activity associated with the development of endovascular neuroradiology in Ukraine:
– Implemented the innovative treatment technologies of neurovascular pathology in clinical practice (in 2002 he was the first doctor in Ukraine, who applied coils in routine practice of cerebral aneurysm occlusion);
– Promoted advent of leaders – manufacturers of modern endovascular equipment to the domestic market;
– Developed the domestic instruments, tools, endovascular techniques and treatments methods of neurovascular diseases;
– Set up the training base for international and postgraduate training in interventional neuroradiology together with the Neurosurgery Department of NMAPO n.a. P.L. Shupik leads by prof. Polishchuk M.E and teaches the courses of lectures and practical material for neurosurgeons.
– Initiated and organized the creation and release of periodical scientific-practical journal “Endovascular neuroradiology”.
Personal experience is more than 3000 operated patients with cerebral aneurysms, arterio – venous malformations of the brain and spinal cord, carotid – cavernous fistuls, stenotic lesions of head and neck major arteries, which is currently the largest in Ukraine and one of the biggest in CIS countries.
There is a full member of European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT) and full member of the Mid-Eastern European Neurointerventional Club (MENC).
